The Writers’ Table is a series of films, conversations and workshops taking place at IAF House, Dublin, between October and November 2025. The series takes its name from James Baldwin’s unfinished work The Welcome Table, around which people from all walks of life gathered to tell stories and discuss culture, making a place of hospitality and healing.

Saturday 4 October, 2pm - Elsewhere, a film screening by Dawna collective

Saturday 4 October, 4pm - Staging Ground book launch with film screenings, readings by Rubble collective, and a conversation with editor John Bingham-Hall. Presented in association with LINA: Learning, Interacting and Networking in Architecture.

Sunday 5 October, 2pm - A Queer Arboreal Heritage workshop with John Bingham-Hall

Wednesday 5 November, 5:30-7:30pm - Writing for Living, a conversation on writing, architecture, value and culture in Ireland with Shane O'Toole, Eimear Arthur and IAF gapLab Writer-in-Residence Liza Goncharenko

Wednesday 12 November, 5:30-7:30pm - Neubau Atmospheres, a film screening, book launch and conversation with author Stephan Ehrig, Kathleen James Chakraborty and Anne Fuchs. Presented in partnership with Goethe-Institut Irland.

Tuesday 18 November, 12:45-2:30pm - Translations Once Again, a conversation on Irish design identity in architecture and graphic design after 20 years of the Venice Architecture Biennale, with Lara Hanlon and Jayden Ali

Wednesday 19 November, 2-5pm - Care and Consideration, a symposium on the work of architect Gerry Cahill, with Ellen Rowley, Orla Murphy, Eddie Conroy and Merlo Kelly

Saturday 29 November, 2-3:30pm - The Art of the Bog, reflections on the Bog Bothy project, bringing together collaborators from architecture, art, and ecology to explore how collective, interdisciplinary practice can shape the future of Ireland’s bogs

Accessibility Information

IAF House is a temporary-use space and does not have direct access to toilet and washroom facilities inside the space. Participants and visitors have full use of toilets, including an accessible toilet, located in a separate adjoining building approximately 100 metres away. The space and doorways open wide, and the venue does not have any steps or stairs.
