Public Domain: Elders
How do our shared spaces shape our memories and connections with others?
Public Domain continues in Cork with a live conversation and podcast recording with members of Cork’s elder community. Through lived experiences and shared perspectives, the conversation will explore how public spaces are experienced, used and valued, and what makes them welcoming and inclusive.
We will consider how public spaces can create opportunities for participation, belonging and connection, and help address loneliness and social isolation among older people, contributing to a city that works for everyone.
About Public Domain
Public Domain, the first in a series for IAF Podcasts, explores public space through the perspectives of sport, migrants and new communities, queer experience, and older people, with conversations in Dublin, Limerick, Belfast and Cork.
Public space is part of everyday life, from the streets, squares, parks, pitches and rooms where we meet and gather to the formal and informal shared spaces of our towns, cities and landscapes. But experiences of public spaces vary between different communities of place and interest. Through live conversations with communities and invited voices, the podcast series considers the spaces we share: who they are for, how they are experienced, used, valued and cared for, and how people can participate in shaping them.
Public Domain is funded by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
