Ageing in Place — Walking Tour of Temple Bar

We are proud to offer a unique guided walking tour on the past and present of Temple Bar, led by Michael McDermott, as part of the Bealtaine Festival — Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age, presented by Age and Opportunity.

Accessibility

This tour will feature a wireless audio system, allowing you to hear the guide clearly through individual earpieces. Volunteers will be on hand to assist in setting these up before the tour begins. Please arrive a few minutes early for this.

The tour will involve walking on uneven surfaces, which may include cobblestones and brick pavements. Temple Bar is a busy and potentially noisy area with foot traffic which may cause difficulties with navigation. This tour will follow a relaxed pace and there will be opportunities for rest breaks.

About the Tour Guide

Michael McDermott is the director of the Liberties Festival. Michael is a Board member of the Fringe Festival, works with music website Nialler9 and curates events for Irish Design Week, among others. He was previously editor of Totally Dublin and publisher of Le Cool Dublin, where he developed a series of unique walking tours — the Le Cool Experience.
